Old bungalows are appealing but on the downside, they can be dark and pokey.
Villa+Villa was asked to completely transform the interior of this Mosman house without making any changes to the layout — and to do it in just three short months.
With such a tight timeframe the changes could only be cosmetic. First, an uninspiring door in the hallway was replaced with a pair of 1940s Argentinian doors with opaque glazing that open to the kitchen and entertaining area at the back of the house. Next, walls were repainted in smoky, elegant hues. Dowdy lightfittings were exchanged for pendants and Empire-style chandeliers that add a touch of sparkly opulence. Old furnishings were replaced, new artworks hung and objects positioned.
When the owners returned, they were overwhelmed by the transformation.
